OUR VISION MISSION BELIEFS

OUR VISION & MISSION

Vision Statement

“To touch the world with the Word of God, motivated by a passion for God and compassion for people.”

Mission Statement

Smoky Hill Baptist Church is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship. We seek to be compassionate and theologically conservative, as liberal as the love of God and as inclusive as the great invitation of God to man …“Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:17)

WHAT WE BELIEVE

STATEMENT OF FAITH

  1. All Scripture is breathed of God and is useful in teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training in righteousness.

  2. There is only One God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, manifested in 3 persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  3. Jesus Christ is God, born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross solely provides for our salvation. He was raised from the dead in a physical body, ascended to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for us now, and will return personally and physically in power and glory.

  4. For a person to be saved, which means born again, and all need to be saved, they must repent, trust what Jesus did on the cross to pay for their sins, ask Jesus to come and live inside of them, save them, and give them power to live for Him. When a person does this, the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of them and begins to change how they think and live.

  5. Everyone will live forever, those who know Christ, living in His presence in a perfect body in a perfect world with a perfect God forever, and those who don’t know Christ, eternally separated from Him.

THE GOOD NEWS

In order to see our need for the Good News, we must recognize the bad news. The bad news is that we are all sinners, separated from God by our sin. We have all broken God’s law. We are born in sin with a dead spirit. We cannot communicate with God with a dead spirit. We must be born again. If we realize we are separated from God by our sin, trust what Jesus Christ did on the cross to pay for our sin, repent (or make a u-turn) from the way we’re living and thinking, and ask Jesus to save us and come and live inside of us and give us power to live for Him, He will bring life to our dead spirit by the Holy Spirit who comes and lives inside of us. Then we can communicate with God and understand the things of God. This is the Good News! Our prayer, which is between you and God, might sound something like this: God, I admit I’ve sinned against You. Jesus, I trust what You did on the cross to pay for my sin. Save me Jesus.  I turn from the way I’ve been living and thinking, and I turn to You. Come and live inside of me and give me power to live for You.  Thank You, Lord! If you’ve received Christ, call and share the Good News with us. It’s the best decision you’ve ever made. Allow us to help you to grow in this new relationship with Christ.
